Hosted by The Beauty of Block and The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, BLOCKWORK: Concrete Masonry Architecture of the Americas Symposium brings together architects, engineers, contractors, and industry leaders for two days of learning and discussion focused on the role of concrete masonry in contemporary architecture. Taking place October 1–2, 2026, at the University of Texas at Austin, the event (formerly known as the Masonry Design Summit) builds on its legacy by showcasing how concrete masonry has shaped significant projects throughout the Americas. Through project presentations and conversations with leading design professionals, attendees will explore real-world masonry applications, discover innovative design strategies, and connect with peers from across the region. Participants can also earn up to 6 AIA CEU credits while expanding their understanding of masonry architecture.

Organized by SPE RDTS, Advanced Materials and Sustainability Group, this symposium connects low-carbon cement/concrete science with practical deployment in oil well construction and broader structural/infrastructure applications. The Beauty of Block and Mason Contractors Association of America are offering an exclusive, no-cost MasterClass Series designed for senior-level owners and staff who direct design projects and oversee design quality. This five-session series, held from November 2 to December 14, 2026, will explore key provisions within the International Building Code that can reduce masonry labor costs, improve structural performance, and share advances and best practices with architects and structural engineers. Each class will be co-hosted by Upstate NY MCAA Chapter members, providing a mason’s perspective, and participants can earn up to 10 free AIA LU/HSW continuing education credits. Attendance is limited and selected by application. Registration deadline is October 9, 2026.
